Nutrien, formed in 2018 by the merger of Canadian companies Agrium and PotashCorp, is one of the world's largest fertiliser companies. It produces and distributes over 25 million tonnes of potash, nitrogen and phosphate products for global agricultural, feed and industrial markets. It operates a network of 2,000 retail outlets across North and South America and Australia, in addition to 3,400 crop advisors and agronomists. Further, the company’s Nutrien Ag Solutions and Landmark retail businesses provide a fully diversified portfolio of agricultural products, including nutrients, crop protection, seeds and agronomic advice to growers.
Nutrien ranks twelfth in the agricultural input segment. The company is strongest in the governance and strategy measurement area but lags among its industry peers across other measurement areas. In the environment measurement area, the company is in the top 10 as it recognises and addresses its responsibility across all relevant topics. When it comes to social inclusion, Nutrien is in the top 20 but lacks strong commitments on child and forced labour as well as land rights. Furthermore, it has opportunities for improvement in the nutrition measurement area and increasing disclosure on relevant topics.
