KWS, founded in 1856, is a family-owned plant-breeding company which, together with its subsidiaries, today has a global operational and sales presence in over 70 countries. KWS has 30 breeding stations and 150 testing stations that focus on moderate climatic zones in Europe, North and South America and China. It operates primarily through its maize, sugar beet and cereals divisions. As of 2019, vegetable seed company Pop Vriend Seeds is a subsidiary of KWS.
