Yidan Chen is a Research Analyst currently based in Hong Kong SAR. Previously, she spent nearly two years at the World Resources Institute (WRI) China, deeply engaged in research focused on just transitions within key climate frameworks such as NDCs and LTS, serving 80 parties to the Paris Agreement. Yidan collaborated extensively with local research institutes, universities, and NGOs to explore just transition practices across various sectors in China, including coal regions and the steel industry, as well as economically developed but supply chain-vulnerable coastal provinces. She has a strong passion for advancing equitable ways to facilitate climate actions and enhance climate ambitions. 

Prior to her focus on climate research, Yidan was an urban planner, applying her expertise in sustainable urban planning and design across numerous Chinese cities. She holds a master’s degree in urban and Regional Planning from UCLA and a bachelor’s degree in the same field from UIUC, providing her with a strong foundation in both the practical and theoretical aspects of her field.
