Shamistha leads the Gender Benchmark. She drives everything from research into its initial scoping and framing to the development of its methodology, to identifying and engaging a global community of gender experts and stakeholders. She believes business can play a critical role in driving gender equality and empowerment.
Prior to joining WBA, Shamistha was a corporate lawyer – she advised businesses on how to align with international and domestic business and human rights standards. She also co-authored a chapter of The Rio Declaration on Environment and Development: A Commentary that focuses on the critical role that women play in achieving sustainable development.
Shamistha holds an LLB and BCom from Monash University (AUS), and an Advanced LLM in European and International Human Rights Law from Leiden University (NL).
