Richard is responsible for developing the WBA policy strategy in the context of the EU Institutions; working collaboratively with other regional policy leads, ensuring active engagement with civil society, financial institutions, business networks and policy institutions. This will support a future policy and regulatory environment to help business make progress on the SDGs.
Richard has taken a central position in devising and executing large scale advocacy and government relations strategies throughout his career. Most recently he provided a major advisory role on the design of the next European budget 2021-2027 worth €1 trillion and the fundamental Programmes for delivering European and funding priorities to key sectors of the global economy and particularly crucial to delivering the SDGs.
In a career, spanning positions within UK government, global nonprofits and the private sector, Richard has project led a number of high profile European projects and policy initiatives building close relationships with EU institutions, NGOs, academic and industry partners. He is also an independent expert for the European Commission to assist with research and innovation assignments including the evaluation of proposals, monitoring of projects, and evaluation of programmes, and design of policy.
