Hansika Agrawal

Legal Researcher at Columbia Center on Sustainable Investment

Hansika Agrawal is a legal researcher at the Columbia Center on Sustainable Investment (CCSI), where she leads research, training, and technical advisory projects around strengthening the governance of large-scale land based investments. Hansika works in collaboration with civil society organizations, governments, and other actors on advancing sustainable and rights-respecting investment and investment governance across a range of sectors, including extractives, agriculture, renewable energy, and the just transition.

Prior to joining CCSI, Hansika was a Fellow with the Global Justice Clinic at New York University School of Law, supporting the Clinic’s work around climate justice, community land rights, and corporate accountability. In previous roles, Hansika has advanced legal empowerment, human rights investigations, strategic litigation, and advocacy projects, with a focus on Indigenous and community land rights, rights of migrant workers, rights of older persons, and the right to housing.

Hansika holds a Bachelor of Laws and a Bachelor of Social Sciences from the University of Hong Kong, as well as a Master of Laws in International Legal Studies from New York University School of Law.
