CCR, formerly known as Companhia de Concessões Rodoviárias, is a publicly owned transportation company headquartered in São Paulo, Brazil. Since its founding in 1999, CCR has become the largest highway operator in Latin America, managing around 3,000 kilometres of toll roads. The company also oversees passenger transport services, including ferries, light rail, trains and subways, transporting 3 million passengers daily across Brazil, Costa Rica and Ecuador.
Summary
CCR discloses information on some topics related to urban sustainability but lacks disclosure on several important topics. The company demonstrates social responsibility through its code of conduct prohibiting discrimination and providing periodic mandatory training for employees. CCR also offers a confidential channel for stakeholders to report concerns, including discrimination, and outlines potential disciplinary actions for non-compliance with regulations.
However, there are critical areas where the company can improve its performance. CCR’s energy efficiency reporting shows gaps, especially in addressing the increase in the company’s non-renewable fuel consumption over the past three years. While the company reports its total energy use, providing more details on its measures to reduce energy consumption will help it better align with global environmental standards. Similarly, although CCR monitors water consumption, it does not identify water as a material topic, nor does it set targets or conduct studies related to its impact on water-stressed areas.
There is no evidence that CCR regularly reports on the adequacy, affordability or accessibility of its transport services. Greater transparency in these areas will better demonstrate CCR’s contribution to equitable and accessible urban mobility, aligning its practices with broader sustainability goals. The company should also disclose its policy commitments to respect human rights.
