Summary

Fomento Económico Mexicano (FEMSA) publicly discloses some commitments across the dimensions but has room for improvement in all three. While FEMSA does not commit to reducing its scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions, it does disclose them. Neither does the company commit to protecting forests, sourcing seafood sustainably, enhancing soil health or optimising the use of synthetic agricultural inputs. However, it does have a target to improve water efficiency for every litre of beverage it produces. The company is committed to redesigning its product packaging to make it 100% recyclable, although no time-bound target for this was found. In the nutrition dimension, FEMSA does not disclose commitments to increase the availability, accessibility, and affordability of healthy foods. As one of the largest beverage companies in the world, FEMSA is committed to clear labelling of its products, including information on the nutrients and fat, sugar and sodium levels in each of them, and follows a responsible marketing policy that includes not advertising to children under 12. The company promotes healthy habits in the workplace but does not disclose commitments around workforce nutrition. In the social inclusion dimension, FEMSA reports that it does not allow child and forced labour in its own operations. It is also committed to health and safety in its own operations but does not commit to paying a living wage.
