Bloomin’ Brands publicly discloses a number of environmental commitments but falls short in the nutrition and social inclusion dimensions. Despite its sizeable global footprint, the company has not set targets to reduce its GHG emissions. And while it is an active member of the Restaurant Roundtable for Sustainability, it also does not commit to achieving a deforestation-free supply chain. The company states that sourcing seafood harvested in a sustainable manner is a priority but has not disclosed any related targets to achieve this. It does have specific targets to reduce food waste but has yet to disclose these. Neither has it disclosed commitments to soil health or optimising fertiliser and pesticide use. Its animal welfare policy is under development. Although Bloomin’ Brands owns more than 1,200 restaurants, it has yet to disclose any commitments or information in the nutrition dimension, including on increasing the relative share of healthy foods it offers. Few statements are disclosed on serving safe food with wholesome and high-quality ingredients. The company has no public disclosure in the social inclusion dimension, including regarding child and forced labour, health and safety and paying a living wage.
