Total Produce markets and distributes a wide range of branded fresh produce through retailers and wholesalers. It is one of the world’s largest fresh produce producers and providers, growing, sourcing, importing, packaging, marketing and distributing over 300 lines of fresh produce, including bananas, citrus, apples, pears, stone fruit, grapes, tomatoes, pineapples, exotics, salads, vegetables and potatoes. Its vertically integrated supply chain extends across the globe, incorporating over 260 facilities and including farms, vessels, manufacturing facilities, cold storage warehousing and packhouses. The company was established after demerging from Fyffes in 2006.
Total Produce ranks 59th in the agricultural products and commodities segment, positioning itself in the middle of the ranking. Total Produce sits in the top three among its direct peers involved in the production and distribution of fresh produce. When compared to the other companies active in the agricultural commodities segment, it performs above average in the governance and strategy, environment, and nutrition measurement areas. In environment, it reveals relative strengths in its commitment to reducing food loss and waste, but it falls behind in terms of reporting on reductions in GHG emissions and water use. Moreover, Total Produce has an opportunity to improve its position in the nutrition measurement area by improving disclosure regarding food safety. The company is, however, a laggard in the social inclusion measurement area, where it shows a performance well below average.
