Segment ranking summary

Evonik ranks 43rd among its peers in the agricultural products and commodities segment. Evonik performs well in governance and strategy, ranking in the top 15 compared to its peers with good disclosure towards its sustainability strategy and stakeholder engagement activities. However, across the other measurement areas, Evonik is lagging when compared to its peers. In environment, while the company performs well on GHG emissions and tackling deforestation in its high-risk commodity supply chain, it does not provide sufficient disclosure on its sourcing practices, such as towards water use or promoting soil health. In nutrition, the company is in the bottom grouping of companies due to limited disclosure across all the nutritional indicators. Similarly, while the leaders in the segment have made efforts to address important social topics, such as monitoring systems for child and forced labour, Evonik does not provide sufficient evidence that it is addressing these topics.
