Founded in Japan in 1981, SoftBank Group Corporation provides information and communication technology services through its subsidiaries. SoftBank Corporation is the group’s telecommunications service company in Japan. It provided mobile services to 24 million smartphone subscribers and wired broadband services to 8 million subscribers in March 2020. Subsidiary Yahoo Japan offers internet advertising and e-commerce. In 2020, the group divested major subsidiaries, including Sprint, a telecommunications operator in the United States, and Arm, a semiconductor company in the United Kingdom.
