Today, 27 January 2020, with pleasure we publish the draft methodology for the Digital Inclusion Benchmark (DIB). Like all benchmarks we publish, it is part of WBA’s wider effort to measure and rank the 2,000 most influential companies on how they contribute to the SDGs.

We kindly invite all interested stakeholders to review the methodology and provide us with feedback by 29 February 2020. The input will help us, ensuring that our work reflects the expectations of stakeholders and is as impactful as it can be.

The Digital Inclusion Benchmark assesses 100 companies’ policies, processes, performance and disclosure across the breadth of the digital system, from hardware to software and telecommunications. Critical digital inclusion dimensions covered by the benchmark include access, use, skills and innovation.

The draft methodology is the result of WBA’s continuous stakeholder engagement process, building on roundtables, as well as on conversations with the Expert Review Committee, companies, investors, civil society, academics and governments.

In March we will process all feedback that was submitted and share our final methodology by the beginning of April, after which we will begin the data collection phase of our work. We will publish the Digital Inclusion Benchmark by the end of 2020.
